Vehicles traveling from the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway can now directly access the Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway via the T2 connecting road to continue toward Vung Tau.
After a long wait, residents of Ho Chi Minh City, Long Thanh, and Nhon Trach (Dong Nai Province) now have a more convenient route to access the Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway toward Ba Ria, eliminating the need for long detours or heavy traffic on National Highway 51.
This new connection provides an additional and more efficient access point for vehicles traveling from the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway and National Highway 51 to merge onto the new expressway, reducing travel distance by approximately 18 kilometers compared to the previous route.
Vehicles Can Now Access the Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway Directly from the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh Expressway via the T2 Connection Road
Specifically, at 6:00 PM on May 24, the first private vehicles with fewer than nine seats traveling from Ho Chi Minh City toward Dau Giay began turning right onto Branch 2 of the T2 connection road at the Long Thanh Interchange (Long Thanh Ward, Dong Nai City, Dong Nai Province) to enter the Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway directly.
Vehicles traveling on the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway started reducing speed as they approached the Long Thanh Interchange. About 200 meters after passing the National Highway 51 interchange, many drivers proactively activated their right turn signals and gradually moved into the outermost lane, following traffic signs that guided them onto Branch 2 of the T2 road, which directly connects to the Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway.
Only a few minutes after the route was opened, traffic volume increased significantly. The interchange area became much busier while remaining orderly, with vehicles smoothly merging onto the new route under the supervision of traffic authorities and a fully installed signage system.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh, a 45-year-old driver from Ho Chi Minh City, expressed his excitement about the new direct connection between the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh Expressway and the Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway.
“Previously, drivers had to make an 18-kilometer detour from the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh Expressway via Vo Nguyen Giap Road in Dong Nai City to access the Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway, which was both time-consuming and inconvenient. With the new ramp at the Long Thanh Interchange now open, travel is much more convenient. Weekend trips to the beach with my family will be easier and will save a considerable amount of travel time,” he said.
Under the newly implemented traffic management plan, vehicles will enter the Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway through the outermost right-hand lane at the Long Thanh Interchange, also known as Branch 2 of the T2 route.
This branch serves as a direct connection between the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway and the Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway. It has been equipped with a comprehensive system of traffic signs and guidance markers to help drivers easily identify the route and minimize the risk of taking the wrong direction during the initial operation phase.
Authorities removed traffic barriers to allow vehicles to travel directly from the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh Expressway onto the Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway.
Under the new traffic arrangement, vehicles traveling from Ho Chi Minh City can continue directly to the Long Thanh Interchange and then access the Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway via the T2 connecting road without exiting onto National Highway 51 or taking lengthy detours through local roads.
This solution not only shortens travel time but also helps reduce traffic congestion around the Long Thanh gateway area, which typically experiences heavy traffic during weekends and public holidays.
Meanwhile, vehicles traveling from Long Thanh and Nhon Trach now have a more convenient route to access the Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway. Drivers can proceed to the National Highway 51 interchange, enter the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway, pass through the toll station, continue toward Dau Giay, and then turn right at the Long Thanh Interchange onto the connecting ramp leading directly to the Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway.
Authorities advise drivers to pay close attention to traffic signs, reduce speed when approaching the Long Thanh Interchange, and follow traffic management instructions during the initial operation period. These measures are intended to ensure road safety and prevent wrong turns, unnecessary stops, and traffic congestion.
