With a total length of nearly 300 km, this mega project will connect Thu Thiem Station to Can Tho and extend all the way to Ca Mau, the southernmost point of Vietnam.
Notably, CT Group is not only proposing a railway but also planning a large-scale land development of up to 10,000 hectares under the modern TOD (Transit-Oriented Development) model to generate strong financial resources for capital recovery.
High-speed trains are designed to operate at 200–250 km/h, with plans under study to increase speeds to 350 km/h using the advanced CTCS-3 control system.
The project is expected to be implemented under a special PPP (Public-Private Partnership) model, combining 80% state budget funding and 20% private investment.
Faced with these ambitious plans, Can Tho authorities have expressed strong support and instructed relevant agencies to coordinate closely in adjusting planning, preparing for a transportation revolution in southern Vietnam.
