After officially venturing into northern Vietnam with the Hong Hac City mega project in Bac Ninh in April 2025, Phu My Hung has revealed its plan to expand further by selecting Phu Tho province as the second key location in its Northern development strategy.
During a recent meeting with Phu Tho’s leadership, Mr. Gary Tseng, a representative of Phu My Hung, emphasized that Phu Tho is considered a priority destination in the group’s long-term expansion plan. According to Mr. Tseng, Phu Tho offers numerous advantages in terms of scale, location, infrastructure, and urbanization potential, making it an ideal location to replicate the successful model of integrated urban development pioneered by the company in Ho Chi Minh City.
Following the merger of Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc, and Hoa Binh provinces, the new Phu Tho now covers more than 9,300 km² with a population of over 4 million people, making it one of the largest provinces in Vietnam’s northern midland and mountainous region.
According to Chairman Tran Duy Dong, the merger has opened up new development spaces and created strong momentum for investment attraction, especially in the fields of urban real estate, industry, and infrastructure. With a varied terrain of mountains, midlands, and plains, the province is well-positioned to develop diverse urban models—from eco-townships to high-tech residential complexes.
The new provincial administrative center is located in Viet Tri City, which is well connected to major cities such as Hanoi, Hoa Binh, and Vinh Yen, enabling convenient regional integration and attracting skilled labor.
Phu My Hung’s decision to expand into Phu Tho as its second project in northern Vietnam is a strategic move aligned with the company’s vision to target emerging urban areas and newly restructured provinces. There are five key reasons behind this choice:
Large population and growing housing demand: With over 4 million people and rapid urbanization following the merger, Phu Tho urgently needs modern housing developments with integrated planning and amenities.
New development spaces post-merger: The administrative reorganization has created vast new areas suitable for large-scale urban projects—a model that Phu My Hung specializes in.
Supportive policies and government commitment: Chairman Tran Duy Dong has directed relevant departments to remove legal and procedural obstacles, ensuring favorable conditions for Phu My Hung to quickly deploy its project.
Strategic geographic location: Phu Tho is close to Hanoi and major northern economic corridors, making it a promising satellite city with excellent connectivity.
Proven success model: The success of the Phu My Hung urban area in Ho Chi Minh City—Vietnam’s first model township—can be replicated in Phu Tho, where there is ample land and development potential.
Previously, in April 2025, Phu My Hung announced the 198-hectare Hong Hac City project in Bac Ninh with a total investment of USD 1.1 billion, marking a pivotal step in the company's northern strategy.
The decision to move into Phu Tho next indicates that Phu My Hung is strategically targeting midland regions that feature rapid urbanization, large land banks, investor-friendly policies, and growing infrastructure networks.
With strong financial capability, experience in building model urban areas, and a clear long-term vision, Phu My Hung is gradually establishing a presence in northern Vietnam’s real estate landscape. The choice of Phu Tho after Bac Ninh demonstrates that the company is not merely expanding northward but is actively reshaping its own urban development roadmap—methodically, sustainably, and in line with Vietnam’s post-merger investment trends.
