On April 30, 2025, Ho Chi Minh City marked the 50th anniversary of national reunification by inaugurating and breaking ground on a series of major infrastructure projects. These efforts signal the city’s determination to transform into a world-class metropolis with modern transportation, sustainable development, and international integration.
With an investment of nearly 11 trillion VND (~USD 440 million), Terminal T3 is now the largest domestic terminal in Vietnam, capable of serving 20 million passengers annually. Featuring integrated transport connections, including the future Metro Line 2, the terminal promises to enhance the travel experience while reducing pressure on current airport operations—positioning Ho Chi Minh City as a premier gateway to Southeast Asia.

Tran Quoc Hoan – Cong Hoa Connector (investment: 4.8 trillion VND): A 4-kilometer urban artery equipped with overpasses and underpasses, easing traffic around the airport and the city’s northwest.
An Phu Underpass (investment: 3.4 trillion VND): A 760-meter-long tunnel enabling two-way traffic between Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway and Mai Chi Tho Avenue, reducing congestion in the city’s eastern corridor, particularly the access to Thu Thiem’s future financial hub.

HCMC – Moc Bai Expressway (51 km, 19.6 trillion VND): This new highway connects Ho Chi Minh City with Tay Ninh province and onward to Cambodia, paving the way for regional economic growth, logistics, and cross-border trade.
Ring Road 2 (Phase 1 & 2) (investment: 13.8 trillion VND): These sections will close the city’s ring network and help decongest internal roads.
A major environmental and urban beautification project, the renovation of Xuyen Tam Canal will restore over 10 kilometers of waterway. With a total investment exceeding 17.2 trillion VND, the project improves drainage, living conditions, and unlocks potential for waterfront tourism and nighttime economy.
This synchronized wave of project launches and inaugurations reflects the city’s bold ambition to become a modern, livable, and globally connected urban hub. With cutting-edge infrastructure, a people-centric vision, and growing international appeal, Ho Chi Minh City is setting a new standard for Southeast Asia’s urban future.
