Long An Province Accelerates Land Pricing Process to Enable Businesses to Fulfill Financial Obligations

The Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Long An Province has determined that in the second quarter of 2024, it will focus on accelerating the land pricing process so that businesses can timely fulfill their financial obligations. A project is being supplemented and completed legally for deployment in My Hanh Nam commune, Duc Hoa district, Long An Province.

The report on the situation of task implementation in the first quarter and the task direction in the second quarter of 2024 by the Department of Natural Resources and Environment shows that Long An Province has completed the clearance of 180.12 hectares of land (including 25.5 hectares for public investment projects and 154.5 hectares for off-budget investment projects). Specifically: Tan An City 2.08 hectares; Ben Luc District 111 hectares, Duc Hoa District 48.6 hectares, Can Giuoc District 12.9 hectares, Can Duoc District 5.4 hectares.

In the field of natural resources and environment, also in the first quarter of 2024, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Long An Province conducted inspections and audits of 10 incidents (including 8 in the environmental sector and 2 in the water resources sector).

Through these, the agency discovered 10 units (9 organizations, 1 individual) in violation, issuing 10 administrative sanction decisions, imposing fines of nearly 322 million Vietnamese dong. The violations mainly involved regulations on environmental protection and unauthorized exploitation and use of groundwater.

In the second quarter of 2024, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment will complete the submission of proposals to the Provincial People's Committee for the implementation of the Land Law of 2024; issue a plan for auctioning land use rights of lands managed by the state; and present a preliminary report on the effectiveness and efficiency of compensation and resettlement work when the state recovers land in the province, as per the resolution number 25-NQ/TU dated November 4, 2021, of the Provincial Party Committee.

Furthermore, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment will focus on proposing the implementation of the 2024 land inventory across the province; review and complete the five-year provincial land use plan for 2021 - 2025 after the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment audits the report and submits it to the Provincial People's Committee, then to the Provincial People's Council for approval.

Continue to review and report the catalog of land recovery projects and the catalog of lands for the change of purpose from rice cultivation, submitted to the Provincial People's Council for approval, to provide a legal basis for land recovery, allocation, leasing, and change of use.

Focus on accelerating the land pricing process to enable businesses to timely fulfill financial obligations; expedite the clearance of land projects to soon carry out the auction procedures for the allocated projects.
