People Willing to Surrender Land for the HCMC - Moc Bai Expressway Project

Post Date : Thursday, November 28, 2024

The Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai expressway project is one of the key infrastructure developments not only for Ho Chi Minh City and Tay Ninh province but also for the southern region, connecting Ho Chi Minh City with Cambodia via the Moc Bai international border gate. The expressway, over 50 kilometers long, with 24 kilometers passing through Ho Chi Minh City and 26 kilometers through Tay Ninh province, will become a crucial transportation link, boosting economic development, particularly in the border areas and along the industrial zones and export processing zones.

Since the Prime Minister approved the investment plan, the relevant departments of Ho Chi Minh City and Tay Ninh province have actively carried out land acquisition, compensation, and resettlement work to ensure the project progresses smoothly according to schedule. Encouragingly, people in areas such as Trang Bang, Go Dau, and Ben Cau have shown strong support for the land acquisition plan, with hopes that the project will bring regional development opportunities.

Public Support

According to local government reports, the land acquisition and compensation work has made good progress, especially in Trang Bang, where over 94% of the affected households have completed the land inventory. This progress indicates that the local residents not only understand the importance of the project but are also actively supporting the government’s land acquisition and implementation plans.

Mr. Vo Van Hen, a resident whose land is affected in Loc Khe village, Gia Loc ward, Trang Bang town, shared: “Although our family has to relocate, we are very happy because the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai expressway will change the face of Tay Ninh. Once the expressway is completed, it will bring great development opportunities to our province. This is a hopeful future for us.” He further mentioned that although there will be some inconveniences, such changes are worthwhile for the long-term benefits of the entire community and region.

Similarly, Mr. Duong Van Cu, head of Loc Khe neighborhood, also expressed: “Our community has held many meetings to discuss this project. Most of the residents support the land acquisition plan because we understand that this is crucial for the country’s and the province's future development.” The strong support from local residents has been a major factor in facilitating land acquisition and ensuring the smooth progress of the project.

Support for Resettlement and Sustainable Development

To assist the affected residents, Tay Ninh province has begun planning and constructing large resettlement areas. Trang Bang, one of the most impacted areas, has already planned a 10.7-hectare resettlement area, providing around 402 land plots for the displaced households. These resettlement areas will not only offer new homes for residents but will also help them maintain a stable life and ensure the sustainable development of the community once the project is completed.

Mr. Pham Van Con, Deputy Director of the Trang Bang Land Development Center, stated: “We aim to complete the construction of the resettlement area by the end of the second quarter of 2025 and provide the local residents with a stable living environment.” In addition, the local government is also planning two other resettlement areas with around 60 to 70 plots to support residents from other areas affected by different transportation projects.

In addition to the construction of resettlement areas, the local government is ensuring that other infrastructure, such as local roads and drainage systems, will be improved or connected to serve the daily needs of the residents in these areas. The government is also investigating compensation prices to ensure that all affected residents receive fair compensation.

Economic and Social Benefits

The Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai expressway will not only improve the lives of local residents but will also bring significant economic benefits to the region. This expressway will directly connect Ho Chi Minh City, the economic hub of Vietnam, with Moc Bai, an important border gateway to Cambodia, providing a convenient transportation route for trade and business exchanges between the two countries. Moreover, this expressway will serve as a trade corridor, linking key economic zones, including seaports, and promoting logistics, trade, and other industries, further boosting economic growth in Tay Ninh province and Southeast Asia.

Once completed, the expressway will facilitate more efficient logistics operations at the Moc Bai border gate and surrounding industrial zones, further promoting the development of industries such as manufacturing, trade, and export. In particular, the expressway will help connect Moc Bai with Ho Chi Minh City and other regions of the Mekong Delta, providing new growth opportunities and enhancing economic cooperation in Southeast Asia.

Conclusion

The Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai expressway project is receiving strong support from both local residents and the government. With the active coordination of government departments, this project is progressing smoothly and is expected to be completed as scheduled. Once completed, the expressway will not only improve transportation infrastructure but will also promote economic and social development for Ho Chi Minh City, Tay Ninh province, and the Southeast Asia region. This project will not only provide new opportunities for local residents but will also open up a promising future for the entire region.
